BERJAYA HILLS RESORT BUKIT TINGGI, PAHANG, MALAYSIA -part 2

COLMAR TROPICALE

It is actually a hotel designed in an architecture which interpretation of a romantic 16th century village in Alsace, France. Each building has its own different design and name.

Under the big bridge is a pond where you can find a pair of white swan and a pair of black swans. I would say the main hit among the crowd here are the swans hahahaha. I put the swans picture later. They were quite friendly actually. Maybe they have gotten used to having many people around.

There are many people on that day. There are suppose to be a stage performance at the centre but  no stage performance that particular day though since the stage was prepared for a wedding later that night. There was actually a lion dance performance before we arrived. In conjunction of the Chinese New Year celebration.

My husband, his brother and I also tested our shooting skills at the Target shooting range near the swan pond. They used the gun and pallets similar to paintballs and the target is old bowling pins and gas barrel. Oh last time I went shooting during our dept shooting tounament in Langkawi a few years back.

If you planned to stay here I would say a day or two would be enough to cover all the activities you can do around here.

BERJAYA HILLS RESORT BUKIT TINGGI, PAHANG, MALAYSIA

A long weekend again. As my husband's brother is in town for business meeting almost all my in laws are here. So we decided to go to Bukit Tinggi. saja jalan-jalan cari pasal . It was just a day trip. No we didn't check in the hotel. My youngest sister also joined in.

We headed out after breakfast. Actually it was already 11. huhu it's weekend. come on.  Six and half of us in two cars. the traffic was quite slow moving. Everyone must have planned a break out of the city or at least balik kampung. We stopped for a quick lunch and toilet break at Burger Kings before Gombak Toll to Karak highway.

It was almost an hour to arrive there but then you will enjoy the breeze and greenery.

To enter the resort you have to pay an entrance fee (RM16 per head if I am not mistaken) and I think It will be refunded upon check in at the hotel. (If you are going to stay overnight lah)

JAPANESE GARDEN AND BOTANICAL GARDEN

Irfan loves the steps and the fish in the ponds. He walks all the way up and refuse to be carry around. Irfan kept pointing at the huge rocks and said " Ball... besaaar" Hish. It's a rock la . We put him onto one and he kept smiling and clapping while his uncle and auntie snapping his picture.

This garden is located 3500 feet above the sea and is one of its kind outside Japan. It was carefully planned and designed by a renowned Japanese architect , Mr Kaio Ariizumi and was built by a team of 22 skilled craftsmen flown in from Japan.
Entering this garden, you will went through a traditional  Japanese arch to the koi pond, the fishes are big and colourful. And the bridge bring you to a waterfall and the traditional tea house.

The traditional tea house also was said to be the world first built in a tropical forest.   You can rent a kimono and wore them for pictures and guests are also invited to join the Japanese tea ceremony.

to be continued..

Slipped Disk

I just came back from hospital visiting SyikinBaik/SyikinUTP. She just had a surgery yesterday to remove the damaged disk. I remember she used to tell us bout her severe back pain after delivering her twins few years back. I thought everything has been okay. Suddenly last few days, she texted saying she was going to undergo a surgery the next day. huh

When I first learned about her pain a few years ago, I thought it was caused by her pregnancy, since she was pregnant with twins so I thought it might have strained her back or it might have caused by some household fall during teenage years.

I search the net and found this about Slipped disk or Prolapsed disk.

Understanding the back
The spine is made up of many bones called vertebrae. These are roughly circular and between each vertebra is a 'disc'. The discs are made of strong 'rubber-like' tissue which allows the spine to be fairly flexible. A disc has a stronger fibrous outer part, and a softer jelly-like middle part called the nucleus pulposus.
The spinal cord, which contains the nerves that come from the brain, is protected by the spine. Nerves from the spinal cord come out from between the vertebrae to take and receive messages to various parts of the body.
Strong ligaments attach to the vertebrae. These give extra support and strength to the spine. Various muscles also surround, and are attached to, various parts of the spine. (The muscles and ligaments are not shown in the diagram below for clarity.)

What is a prolapsed disc?

Prolapsed disc

When you have a prolapsed disc (commonly called a 'slipped disc'), a disc does not actually 'slip'. What happens is that part of the inner softer part of the disc (the nucleus pulposus) bulges out (herniates) through a weakness in the outer part of the disc. A prolapsed disc is sometimes called a herniated disc. The bulging disc may press on nearby structures such as a nerve coming from the spinal cord. Some inflammation also develops around the prolapsed part of the disc.
Any disc in the spine can prolapse. However, most prolapsed discs occur in the lumbar part of the spine (lower back). The size of the prolapse can vary. As a rule, the larger the prolapse, the more severe the symptoms are likely to be.

http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Prolapsed-Disc-(Slipped-Disc).htm

And slipped disk often cause a sudden back pain.and in Syikin case it was actually sudden. According to her story, she was in Kedah on his way to Perlis for work and suddenly she woke up in the morning and cannot walk. She felt pain at her leg, pin and needles, numbness in her buttocks to the toes.

Do not panic yet guys, not all back pain are cause by slipped disk. Most of the time back pain was cause by minor problem of muscle or ligament. 1 out of 20 cases of back pain is cause by slipped disk. And according to the site, slipped this are common among male than female and of the 30 to 50 years old.

What I learned from the site, not all cases of slipped disk needed surgery. Most of the time the symptoms will get better in a few weeks and the condition will improve (with help of painkiller I supposed) with some exercise and keep active.

Why syikin need surgery?
Among the symptom that she had (from what she told us la) when she was having pain from her legs and numbness, she also was unable to pass urine (problems with bowel and bladder function) and this was considered emergency since the maybe the nerve at the lower spinal was pressed on by the swollen disk. So the surgery was to remove(cut out? I don't know doctors term) of the prolapsed this to prevent it from permanently damaging the nerve that control bowel and bladder function.

Well, let's pray for Syikin quick recovery and hope for a better health for us all.

Breeze

Owh it is already February. how fast time flies. and I can't even complete the photo challenge hahaha... and now the February challenge already up on http://www.fatmumslim.com.au/2012/01/february-photo-day-kicks-off-tomorrow.html

I would say this month and January are months with the most public holiday of the year perhaps. Since my husband and I didn't have the chance to go  for holiday at end of last year so we decided to go to Port Dickson last weekend, took 2 days leave and manage to stay there till tuesday. Fun. We introduced Irfan to swimming. in the pool and at the beach. He just love it. Everytime the waves come , he will say "Bubbles!!" and giggles. hehehe. He also asked me to put it back if I pick any shell or the small crabs. Pejuang alam sekitar ke takut anak i ni. huhu

And what I love the most is the privacy. Since it was out of the peak season, not a school holiday so there is almost no one there except us. We had the pool just for us most of the time. Huhu.. Tak malu lah I nak berenang ala-ala dugong gitu. huhu.

And back in the office today I was so lemau since tommorow is the last day of work then a long weekend again huhu.

the christmas break

Yesterday was one of the happiest day...although I was exhausted until today. Why?  I got to spent the whole day with my family..
Saya tidak tahu mengapa tapi weekend lalu, saya begitu penat terasa. Mungkin kelesuan tidak mampu tidur lena and nervous apabila anakanda kesayangan demam. Sungguh saya amat nervous bila dia demam. Risau his fit berulang lagi.
But on on Monday morning, suddenly Irfan’s daddy ajak jalan-jalan. Pegi kuala langat, morib katanya. Owh saya seronok. Harapnya hari tidak hujan. Sudah lama saya ingin membawa Irfan berjalan-jalan at a place where he can run around freely and play.

Dah sampai pantai morib, ramai rupanya duk berkelah. Ada main lelayang, ada buat barbeque macam-macamlah. Seronok juga, We found a spot and ate our breakfast. Irfan sibuk nak berkawan . pantang ada budak-budak lalu dia nak ikut. Last-last kesian tgk irfan duk usha bebudak main layang-layang , daddy beli satu. Tapi daddy yang main bukan Irfan pun hahaha. Dah menginjak tengahari Irfan dan mula ngantuk .. time tidur.. so ingat nak balik after singgah lunch kat Pak Li’s. Sekali nampak signboard “ tempat bersejarah Jugra. “
Saya tanya “ apa sejarah jugra? “
Daddy cakap” jom kita tgk” dan terus melencong ke jugra. Kami panjat bukit jugra dengan DAV itu. Ada tempat tgk anak bulan, ada kuburan Cina dan tempat orang paragliding.
(eh orang paragliding tu mendarat kat mana ek? )

Just an update

A friend complained I rarely update my blog nowadays. If I ever update it will only be a few sentences and pictures. I don’t know. Maybe it was because previously my main reason for having a blog is as an alternative way of connecting with friends and updating each other of our being. But then today we have so many other alternative channels to contact each other and updating stories among us. Before we only have emails, phone and chatting channels, then we have friendster and blog , now we have facebook and twitter. The functions available are more wider with each application. It was such a hassle to upload and send pictures thru email but now you just have to upload and tag your friend tru facebook. That is maybe why I now rarely blog.
I also tend to write a lengthy post about my day in my blog. Not much of anything purposeful.  I thought I should write something beneficial if I ever write. So that is why I seldom write. I can’t seem to find a topic useful.
As I grew futher in this career of mine. I tend to be more careful of what I wrote in my blog. I seems to filter everything twice. Even pictures.
Oh you know what, I now realise I tend to write well when I am well read. Oh I need to read more....more.. more.... hehehe
Adik-adik use your 1 Malaysia book voucher wisely. Dont go and splurge on clothes will ya. Huhu

Read

This morning I had a meeting with this division who does media analysis and control. I arrived early. Not a single soul in the meeting room so I went chitchatting with their boss PA while waiting.
People in this division basically monitor everything in print. From newspaper, books, brochures, even logos in every language possible.  I found their work is fascinating.
When the meeting room is filled with people, then only I came in. I was “feeling out of the place” when everyone in the meeting brought something to read while waiting for the chairman. I know it is part of their job to read all that stuff since they have to make the analysis for the higher bosses, at least they are not wasting time. I where as only have my BB to kill the time.
Oh I so envy these people. Even more these people also are legally permitted to read everything that is not allowed to be published or sold outside. You name it, everything published. How lucky. How many information they gain every day.
I also realize some of the staffs have to come in the office at 4 o’clock in the morning everyday to read every single newspaper published on that particular day. Huhu sungguh tabah.
Owh I miss reading so much.
